Apricot Gorgonzola Cheese, served in a bowl with fresh sliced baguette around it on a plate.

This copycat recipe of The Laundry’s legendary spread from Fenton, Michigan, is pretty darn good – a symphony of sweet and tangy that’s both unexpected and addictive. Words can’t quite capture the deliciousness of this Apricot Gorgonzola Cheese Spread – it’s an explosion of flavor.

Ingredients to make 5–minute apricot Gorgonzola cheese spread

    • apricot preserves
    • cream cheese
    • bacon
    • Gorgonzola cheese
    • green onion
    • pinch of cayenne pepper (optional)
This photo shows the ingredients to make Apricot Gorgonzola Cheese on a kitchen Counter - cream cheese, bacon, apricot preserves, gorgonzola and green onion.

How to Make This Easy Apricot Gorgonzola dip

In a medium size bowl, mix everything together. Next, pour in a serving dish and then place in the refrigerator and allow to chill for 1 hour.

All the ingredients to make the cheese in a clear glass mixing bowl.

Serve chilled with a fresh baguette and favorite crackers. This is also great with fresh cut veggies.

Apricot Gorgonzola Cheese Spread on a baguette.

If you ever find yourself near Fenton, do yourself a favor and make a pit stop – trust me, it’s worth the detour! Until then… No Michigan trip? No problem! This copycat recipe brings the dreamy goodness home.

What do you serve with Apricot Gorgonzola Cheese?

Serve fresh sliced baguette or your favorite plain flavored crackers. This can also be served with fresh cut veggies.

How long does the dip last?

This dip will last up to 2–3 days stored in the refrigerator.

Can I make this a day ahead?

Yes! Save time and make this the day before your gathering.

What brand of apricot preserves is best?

You can use store brands, Smucker’s, Bonne Maman, you can also use homemade. Bonne Maman and Smucker’s are my favorite.

What is the best bacon to use in this cheese spread?

Applewood smoked bacon is best! But if you want to save time, ready-made bacon and bagged REAL bacon work great!

    Course Appetizer
    Cuisine American
    Servings 8

    Ingredients

    • 2 blocks cream cheese (8 ounces each), softened at room temperature
    • 5 ounces Gorgonzola cheese, crumbled
    • 3 ounces bacon, cooked (I often cheat and use pre-cooked. If you make your own, applewood smoked bacon is the best)
    • ¼ cup green onion, chopped (green section)
    • 6-8 ounces apricot preserves (use more for a sweeter taste)
    • dash cayenne pepper (optional)

    Instructions

    • In a medium size bowl, mix everything together. Pour in serving dish and allow to chill for 1 hour.
    • Serve chilled with a fresh baguette or favorite crackers.

    Notes

This is a copycat recipe of The Laundry’s legendary Apricot Gorgonzola Cheese Spread in Fenton, Michigan.

    Tips
    • For a quick and easy 5 minute prep – use pre-cooked bacon!
    • For some extra kick and flavor, add a little cayenne pepper.
    • Use less cream cheese for stronger Gorgonzola taste.
    • Use more Apricot Preserves for sweeter taste.
    • You can use less or more green onion.
    • Taste test as you make it, to see what you like best!

Yum – Do you think you could just use dried apricots instead of the preserve?

        Hi Lisa,

That is a good question! If you used dried apricots that are sweetened, I think it would taste great! You really need the sweetness for the this combination to work. I've always thought about adding dried apricots ALONG with the apricot preserves…think I'll add some the next time I make the spread! When I do, I'll stop by and reply to your comment and let you know how it worked!

Thanks so much for visiting SLBB! Hope you are having a great week!

        Hi Lisa –

You could try a bacon substitute, like tofu bacon for the salty and sweet combo…I have often used tofu bacon for BLTs and I love it!
