    About Me

Hello, I’m Mary, the blogger behind Sweet Little Bluebird. Born and raised in Flint, Michigan, I now live in the Atlanta area. I’m married to a California native and we have two daughters. I started Sweet Little Bluebird in 2011, featuring my favorite recipes and trusted tried-and-true dishes from cookbooks, magazines, and food sites. Don’t miss the Weekend Potluck party every Friday for a roundup of delicious recipes from fellow food bloggers.

I love to share, that’s why I blog.

What’s with the name Sweet Little Bluebird?

As a child, my favorite people in the world were my grandparents, William and Mary. I loved spending time with them. They called me their “Little Hothouse Rose” because I was always by their side, joining in whatever they were doing.

One of my cherished memories of their home was a collection of tiny glass bluebirds on their windowsill. These were known as “Bluebirds of Happiness.” You can learn more about these delightful birds on the Terra Studios website (not an affiliate link) under Frequently Asked Questions. **To purchase your own Bluebird of Happiness, visit the Terra Studios Online Store. I have no affiliation with Terra Studios, just a fan.

When I married and moved away, I got my own little glass bluebird. It helped me feel closer to them.

Though my grandparents are no longer with us, their memory lives on. These bluebirds, once gracing their windowsill, now hold a special place in mine. Every day, they fill me with joy and serve as precious reminders of my childhood and the grandparents I loved dearly.
