Today, I am sharing one of my family’s favorite chocolate chip cookies. I found this wonderful recipe a little over a year ago on Jen’s Favorite Cookies. These awesome cookies were an instant hit and I make them all the time for my daughter with an allergy – they are egg free! Even my husband who is a major cookie snob loves them, and he’s not a fan of cream cheese. I love them because they are a cinch to make and a cookie the whole family can enjoy.

Soft Batch Cream Cheese Chocolate Chip Cookies
- 1/2 cup salted butter, softened to room temperature
- 8 ounce block of cream cheese, softened to room temperature
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup brown sugar (light or dark)
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- 3/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 12 oz bag of semi-sweet chocolate chip
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
In a large bowl, cream butter, cream cheese and sugars until they are smooth/creamy, then add the vanilla and mix well.
Next, add flour, salt and baking soda – mix until all the dry ingredients are just blended – Do Not Over Mix!
Last, add chocolate chips. Fold the chocolate chips into the dough, until just blended. Do not over mix the chocolate chips with the dough.
Place heaping round tablespoons of dough on an ungreased cookie sheet approximately one inch apart. I use The Pampered Chef’s Medium size scooper for the dough, it’s the perfect size and I never have to touch the dough.
Place cookies in the oven on middle rack and bake for 9-11 minutes, depending on your oven. Bake until cookies turn a light golden brown. Remove, place cookies on rack to cool. Store cooled cookies in an airtight container. Enjoy!
*Baking times will vary depending on oven. Cookies are ready when they start to turn light golden brown.
Thanks for stopping by!
Cheers!

Would you happen to know the best gluten free flour to use in this recipe?

Lots of people love King Arthur’s All-Purpose GF Flour.
I have never used GF flour so I am not sure how the cookies would turn out. You can read reviews here – be sure to check out their GF cookie recipes. I love King Arthur recipes:

My favorite Gluten Free Flour is Bob’s Red Mill Gluten Free 1-to-1 Baking Flour. I use it as a flour substitute for all my gluten free baking.

These cookies are FABULOUS!
I think the key is not to overmix. Also, I had to bake mine an extra 5 minutes on my metal baking tray. They were just light brown on the bottom but seem underbaked on top… But once they cooled they were perfect! They spread perfectly and the eggs were not missed! Thank you for such a fantastic recipe.
Katie
I made these cookies and they were not soft, but crispy. Did we forget an egg in the recipe? Or what went wrong. They were not like your description!
Mary Neumann
Katie, no eggs in this recipe. As you can see from the reviews, the cookies are soft. I am not sure what went wrong for you. Maybe your measurements or baking time/oven.

I have made these twice and they are my husbands favourite. My kids love them too. My best friends daughter fell in love with them too.

I made these and I ran out of chocolate chips so I used chocolate melts. They were really good! It was the first time making homemade cookies.

I’ve scoured this page and can’t seem to find how many cookies this recipe makes.

Beverly, I also looked for the yield. I make BIG cookies, so I actually yielded 26 cookies, baked at 11 Min. We all love them.

Do you know if this can be made with vegan “cream cheese?”
MIchelle
I made these for my family. They went nuts for them and it is the only Chocolate Chip Cookie they want me to make now. Have you ever added nuts to them? I ordered some Levain Cookies from the Bakery in New York. Their Chocolate Chip Cookies remind of the these cookies. They do add nuts to theirs so I am going to try nuts in your recipe.
I hope people give these a try they are wonderful and stay fresh for several days.

I would like to mention to Heather that although the recipe doesn’t have eggs, eating dough with raw flour isn’t good either.

Can these cookies be made ahead of time and frozen?
Mary Neumann
Hi Karen – yes, up to a couple of months. Be sure the cookies are completely cool before freezing.

Do you happen to have a nutritional value of your cream cheese chocolate cookie please, thank you Linda

My cookies did not spread out. I had to press them out. Did I do something wrong? Batter is delicious, they just didn’t really brown or flatten out.
Tamera huey
Mine didn’t either. But the taste is really good. They kind a look like a biscuit to me. The next pan I rolled the dough in my hand and put on the sheet. Hope they look better
andreas
