PINNABLE IMAGE
This fall treat is so simple to make and a favorite go-to dessert. You can use apple pie filling from scratch or canned and enjoy them hot or cold. They are wonderful served warm with vanilla ice cream or cold, wrapped in wax paper in your hand….so so good.
Ingredients
- 8 Flour Tortillas (I use Large Size Tortillas
- 6 Medium Size Tart Apples, Peeled and Sliced/Diced (I use Granny Smith)
- 3/4 Cup Sugar
- 1 teaspoon Ground Cinnamon
- Dash of Nutmeg (about 1/8 teaspoon – optional)
- 1/4 teaspoon Salt
- 2 Tablespoons Flour
- 1 Tablespoon Lemon Juice
- *1 1/2 Tablespoons Melted Butter (to brush on top of tortillas)
*Cinnamon Sugar Recipe to sprinkle on top of tortillas
- 1/4 cup of sugar
- 1 teaspoon of cinnamon
- Stir sugar and cinnamon together until well blended
Directions
Preheat oven to 350 degree F. Butter (grease) a 9×13 baking dish.
Next, combined all of the dry ingredients in a bowl. Toss the sliced/diced apples in the lemon juice, then pour the dry mixture over apples. Stir the apples making sure they are coated well. Place a 1/2 cup of the apple mixture and spread in the center of a tortilla. Roll the tortilla and place in pan, seam down. Repeat 7 more times. Note, You may only be able to fit 7 rolls in your pan. Once rolls are in pan, lightly brush with melted butter and sprinkle with cinnamon sugar, making sure to sprinkle in between each roll on their sides.
Cover with foil and bake on middle rack of oven for 40-50 minutes. Bake until apples reach desired texture. Remove, enjoy hot or cold. Great served warm with vanilla ice cream! I love them cold, wrapped in wax paper in my hand- so good!
Baking Tips
- For crispier tortillas, remove foil with 10 minutes left for baking.
- For a QUICK version, you can use canned apple pie filling (I use Duncan Hines®). Brush the tortillas with butter and sprinkle with cinnamon sugar. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes at 350 degrees f.

I couldn't tell if the tortillas turned out soft or not but either way it looks delicious. Thanks
Mari
Mary ~
Hi Mari ~ Thanks for the visit! You can make them soft or crispy. Simply remove foil 10 minutes early while baking! If you do the short-cut version with canned apple pie filling, just bake without the foil for a crispier tortillas. Hope you are having a great Lador Day!

Thank you for the sweet words. You'll have to let me know what you think, if you make them. My girls (ages 9 & 15) LOVE them, so do their friends. For now on, I'm keeping a can of apple pie filling in the house for a fast, yummy dessert. I've used canned apple pie filling before ~ even though it's not as good as fresh apples – they were really yummy and so fast to whip up! Thanks for visiting and for the follow! Hope you're having a great Labor Day.

Mary,
Thank you for sharing this yummy recipe on my Blog Hop! I never would have thought of using tortillas instead of pie crust. I am so intrigued! 🙂 I'm going apple picking this month and will definitely make these!
Mary ~
Thanks for visiting, Jane! They were a major hit in my home with family and friends. I've made 3 batches in 5 days. Everyone loves the texture of the tortillas. They are really good cold too! For a quick batch, canned pie filling works great, I just sprinkle a little extra cinnamon on the pie filling. Hope you like them as much as we do! Thanks again for the visit!
