This pizza bake is a nice change from ordinary pizza. It’s like a deep dish pizza, oozing with lots and lots of cheese.
The original recipe can be found on Pillsbury.com and calls for Pillsbury Grands Original Homestyle Biscuits (8 large biscuits – Pillsbury brand is best), pizza sauce, cheese and pepperoni. You also need non-stick cooking spray to prep a 9×13 baking dish.
I use Pillsbury Grands Original Southern Homestyle Biscuits – they work great.
Simply cut each biscuit in eighths (see photo below), toss them in a medium size bowl. Next, pour 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese and 1 cup pizza sauce on top and mix well, coating all sides of the biscuits pieces.
Pour coated biscuits in a greased 9×13 baking dish and spread them evenly in a single layer. Next, top with pepperoni (or your favorite pizza fixings – ham, cooked sausage and/or bacon, veggies and more), and top with an additional 1 cup mozzarella.
*I like to add my favorite Italian seasoning – I add a few pinches in the sauce and on top of the pizza.
Bake on middle rack of pre-heated oven at 375 degrees f. for approximately 20 to 23 minutes.
Great served with a side of sauce for dipping and salad. If you are feeding more than 4 people, you may want to double the recipe. My family loves this recipe – two pizza bakes are a must!
Pizza Biscuit Bake (Quick & Easy)
Ingredients
- 1 can Pillsbury Grands Homestyle Refrigerated Original Biscuits (8 big biscuits), each biscuit cut in 8 equal pieces
- 1 cup of your favorite pizza sauce (store bought or homemade) – if you like a saucy pizza, add more
- 2 cups mozzarella – divided in half
- 16 slices of pepperoni, regular size
- Italian or pizza seasoning – optional
Directions
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Spray a 9×13 baking dish with non-stick cooking spray.
Cut each biscuit in eighths and toss in a medium size bowl. Pour 1 cup mozzarella cheese, 1 cup sauce on top of biscuits and mix well, coating all sides. Pour coated biscuits in prepared baking dish, top with pepperoni and remaining 1 cup mozzarella. Bake on middle rack of oven for 20 to 23 minutes. When ready, remove and serve warm. Enjoy!
Tips
- Use your favorite sauce
- Add your favorite pizza toppings
- Add a few pinches/dashes of your favorite Italian or pizza seasonings
- Serve with a side of sauce for dipping
- Each oven cooks differently, if you notice your cheese is browning too fast, before the biscuits are ready, toss a piece of foil on top. You can also bake the biscuits a little before adding the last 1 cup of mozzarella on top.

I changed this recipe. I separated and flattened the biscuits to make a pizza crust. I baked it for 5 minutes. Then I topped it with pizza sauce and the toppings. We added sausage, onions and mushrooms. Then I topped it with mozzarella cheese. I then baked it for 15 more minutes. It was wonderful! Thank you for giving me the idea.

Mine came out really doughy; practically raw in some spots. How long do you think I should just put the biscuit mixture for before adding the toppings and cheese?
Maria
I think baking it first till they are a little colored works better. Mine was doughy as well.
