- For less salt/ lower sodium, use reduced sodium soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce and brown gravy mix.
- Red wine is an awesome addition. If I have an open bottle of wine, I will use 1/4 to 1/3 cup of wine – replacing an equal amount of water with wine.
- Mushrooms are a great addition.
- Do not worry if the beef falls apart, not keeping their cube shape – it will be terrific!

I used 2 cups low sodium beef broth and 1 cup of water. The family loved it there were 4 of us and 3 took leftovers for lunch.

Can you brown the meat and mix everything the night before and just turn on crock pot in morning?

Can u do it frozen in the crockpot or have to have the beef tips thawed out before doing this recipe?

You need to thaw them first, Katie.

I am curious as to why the slow cooker recipes calls for more water than the stovetop recipe – I always thought slow cooker recipes required less water.
Mary Neumann
Pam, it’s the same amount of water – just added all at once.
Pam
This is a fabulous recipe – I loved the flavor and will definitely make these often!
Mary Neumann
