Tender chunks of stew beef are slow cooked in a rich mushroom and onion gravy cooked to tender perfection in the slow cooker. Serve over egg noodles, mashed potatoes or rice for a hassle free meal the whole family will love.

Stew beef chunks, cream of mushroom soup, dry onion soup mix, salt and pepper to taste.
Optional additions, browning beef, mushrooms and red wine – highly recommended!
This recipe is super easy to adapt which comes in handy if you have picky eaters. If you have time, browning the beef first adds great flavor. I also like to add red wine and mushrooms.

How to Make Slow Cooker Smothered Beef Tips
Brown beef (optional). In a medium size bowl add canned mushroom soup, dry onion soup and water, mix well then pour mixture over beef tips, top with mushrooms (optional) and stir, coating evenly. Cook on low for 5-6 hours or on high for 3-4 hours – adjust cooking times depending on how fast/slow your cooker cooks.
When ready, serve over egg noodles, mashed potatoes or rice.

Ingredients
- 2 1/2 to 3 pounds stew beef (beef for stew, sirloin, tenderloin)
- 2 cans cream of mushroom soup
- 1 packet dry onion soup mix (1 ounce packet)
- 1 cup water
- salt and pepper to taste
Optional
- 8 ounces mushrooms sliced (optional)
- 1/4 cup red wine (replace water with wine for total of 3/4 cup water, 1/4 cup wine)
Directions
Lightly spray cooker with non stick cooking spray.
