Technically, Miracle Whip is not mayonnaise – but to many people it is…so it’s included. I grew up referring to Miracle Whip as mayo, using it like mayo. Here is the reason it’s TECHNICALLY not mayo: Miracle Whip Vs. Mayonnaise
After sharing my Tomato Sandwich post yesterday, many people left comments on Facebook stating I should use Duke’s Mayo, NOT Hellmann’s. I grew up in Michigan and had never heard of Duke’s Mayonnaise, it wasn’t even available in stores. I only learned about Duke’s when I started blogging and following southern food bloggers. When I moved to Georgia a few months ago, the first thing on my list was to purchase some Duke’s mayo, to find out what the fuss was all about…and I must say, I prefer Hellmann’s. I’m sure those are some fighting words. Ha!
