Awesome 3 Ingredient Fruit Dip and Spread

Today’s recipe is as simple as they get and fantastic! Made with 3 ingredients and ready in about 3 minutes – Awesome 3 Ingredient Fruit Dip and Spread!

The perfect dip to serve at parties, picnics, potlucks, brunches, showers and other social gatherings.

I was given this fabulous recipe when I lived in Maryland – it’s super versatile and always a hit! Kids love this stuff, along with the adults too. The base of the recipe is cream cheese, brown sugar and vanilla – that’s it! It’s cinch to make, budget friendly…a winning recipe!

You can easily change up the dip by adding spices like cinnamon (I always dust the top with cinnamon), nutmeg and pumpkin spice. For more texture and layers of flavor, add chopped nuts like peanuts, pecans and walnuts. This popular dip is often served with crushed Heath/Skor candy bars or toffee bits.

This can be served year round with all sorts of fruit – apples, strawberries, bananas, grapes and more. Granny Smith apples are my favorite, the tart of the apple with the sweetness of the dip is perfect – it’s like eating a caramel apple only better! Along with fruit, you can serve this with pretzels, animal crackers and graham cracker sticks.

This also makes a fantastic spread for toast, bagels, bread and English muffins.

I hope your family and friends enjoy this recipe as much as we do. It’s a great one for the recipe box!

    Ingredients
    • 8 ounces of cream cheese (regular or reduced fat) – at room temperature
    • 1/2 cup light brown sugar
    • 1 tablespoon pure vanilla extract

    Directions
In a medium size bowl, mix all three ingredients until smooth and creamy. You can mix by hand or use an electric mixer. Chill for one hour in fridge. Serve as a dip with fresh fruit (apples, strawberries, grapes, bananas and more), pretzels, animal crackers and graham cracker sticks. Use as a spread for toast, bagels, bread and English muffins. Enjoy!

    Optional

    • Add 1/4 teaspoon (or more) or dust the top with cinnamon, nutmeg, pumpkin pie spice
    • add toffee bits or crushed Heath or Skor candy bars
    • add chopped nuts – peanuts, pecans, walnuts

    Tip
For best results for smooth dip without lumps, make sure your cream cheese is at room temperature – takes about 25 to 30 minutes on the counter top.
