BEST TOMATO SANDWICH RECIPES – SUMMER’S BEST SANDWICH
Classic Tomato Sandwich – A childhood favorite that never grows old. Two fresh slices of your favorite bread (toasted if you like), smothered with mayonnaise, topped with thick sliced tomatoes, salt and pepper to taste. Perfection.
Note: After sharing this post yesterday, tons of people left comments on Facebook stating I should use Duke’s mayonnaise, NOT Hellmann’s. I grew up in Michigan and had never heard of Duke’s Mayo, it wasn’t available in stores. I only learned about Duke’s when I started blogging and following southern food bloggers. When I moved to Georgia a few months ago, the first thing on my list was to purchase some Duke’s mayo, to find out what the fuss was all about…and I must say, I prefer Hellmann’s. I’m sure those are some fighting words. Ha!
Tomato Sandwich with Basil Mayonnaise – A five-star Ina Garten recipe (Barefoot Contessa) – read the rave reviews. “One of the most fantastic recipes ever!!! Light, flavorful and so simple.”
Tomato Sandwich with Parsley or Basil – Fresh herbs from the garden take the tomato sandwich up a notch.
Mama’s Best Broiled Tomato Sandwich – An Italian twist with great reviews.
Garlic-Toasted Tomato Sandwich – Garlicky grilled bread with a creamy mix of feta, mayonnaise and chives.
Tomato Provolone Sandwich – Elevated tomato sandwich with melted provolone and tarragon-garlic mayo.
Peanut Butter & Tomato Sandwich – Yes, you read that right – an old school favorite from the Great Depression era. Similar to my grandparents’ favorite Peanut Butter, Lettuce and Mayonnaise Sandwich.
Grilled Tomato & Cheese Sandwich – All you need is a bowl of tomato soup and you have yourself the best comfort meal.
The Best Ever Tomato Sandwich – “The secret to the Best Ever Tomato Sandwich is the special sauce from The Prince of Wales, a neighborhood pub in Farmborough, England.”
Fried Green Tomato Sandwich – This sandwich takes a little work, but worth the effort.
What’s your favorite tomato sandwich? Please share by leaving a comment, I would love to learn new and old recipes for this summer favorite.
Cheers!

Today I had the most fabulous Turkey, Ham, Bacon, Tomato, Lettuce and Cucumber sandwich I have ever tasted with Kraft Mayonnaise. It was so tall I had to press it down in order to get my mouth on it. But wow, it was out of this world.

Miracle Whip is NOT a mayonaisse. It is a salad dressing. Sweeter, to me. And I am a Duke's lover also. I use to only use Miracle Whip until I went on the Atkin's diet years ago. Got use to mayo, so it needs to be the good stuff..Duke's. I can't wait to try the Peanut Butter and Tomato!!! Thanks for the recipes :P)

About 20 years ago I owned a small Hometown Cafe. One of my customers regularly had grilled tuna and tomato sandwiches. Didn't know what the fuss was all about until I tried it myself. If you haven't tried it you should I think you'll like it

I grew up on JFG Salad Dressing, so I prefer it. To me mayo is too sour. It has been ages since I had a Peanut Butter and Tomato sandwich. Thanks for refreshing my memory. As soon as I get to the store for tomatoes, I will have a Peanut Butter and Tomato sandwich again. I don't have a Google Account. I also do not do twitter ot text, ext. Facebook only so I will choose Anonymous as my identity.
