WHAT YOU NEED TO MAKE SLOW COOKER COUNTRY STYLE RIBS
Coca-Cola, a bottle of your favorite barbecue sauce or use homemade, country-style pork ribs (boneless or bone-in), salt and pepper to taste.
For today’s recipe I used boneless country-style pork ribs. For little ones, boneless ribs are best.

HOW TO MAKE SLOW COOKER COUNTRY STYLE RIBS
Spray cooker with non-stick cooking spray and fill with ribs evenly, salt and pepper to taste then pour coke over ribs. Cook on low for 6- 8 hours or on high for 3 1/2 -4 hours (adjust cooking time according to your cooker). Make sure ribs reach a safe internal temp of 145 degrees f.
When ready, transfer ribs to a sheet pan (discard juice in cooker). Cover pan with foil or parchment paper for easy clean-up. Slather ribs with your favorite barbecue sauce then pop them in the oven preheated to 400 degrees f. for about 10-15 minutes, until the barbecue sauce starts to bubble and caramelize. You can also broil the ribs to caramelize the sauce quicker (*don’t use parchment paper under the broiler).
Why use Coca-Cola to cook meat?
Coke and other sodas are great meat tenderizers. You can learn more about this Southern staple ingredient at Epicurios – How to Cook with Soda.

Slow Cooker Coca-Cola BBQ Country-Style Ribs (Coke Ribs)
Ingredients
- 4 pounds boneless or bone-in country style pork ribs (can use up to 6 pounds for bone-in ribs)
- 12 ounces of Coca-Cola (original, not diet)
- 1 bottle of your favorite barbecue sauce or use homemade
- salt and pepper to taste
Directions
Spray cooker with non-stick cooking spray and fill with ribs evenly, salt and pepper to taste then pour coke over ribs. Cook on low for 6- 8 hours or on high for 3 1/2 -4 hours (adjust cooking time according to how fast/slow your cooker cooks). Make sure ribs reach a safe internal temp of 145 degrees f.
When ready, gently transfer ribs to a sheet pan (discard juice in cooker). Cover pan with foil or parchment paper for easy clean-up. Slather ribs with your favorite barbecue sauce then place them in the oven preheated to 400 degrees f. for about 10-15 minutes, until the barbecue sauce starts to bubble and caramelize. You can also broil the ribs to caramelize the barbecue sauce quicker (*don’t use parchment paper under the broiler).
Tips
- Boneless country-style pork ribs are best for little children.
- Boneless ribs may fall apart and meat may fall off the bone for bone-in ribs when removing from the slow cooker – do not worry! Simply place the rib meat on the sheet pan, slather with barbecue sauce and place them in the oven. Same great taste!
- Serve with your favorite potato (fries, mashed, baked, roasted, potato salad), veggies, baked beans, coleslaw, salad.

I accidently put it on high for the first 2 hours, then switched it to low. About how long should it take on low. it has been on low for about an hour and half. It says the internal temperature should be between 190-200 degrees when done. It already says it is at 200 internally. So does that mean it is done? Thank you

I use the same recipe only I use boneless pork roast cut into large chunks, cook it untill
well done, then take a large spoon and break up the pork into shreds, put it on a bun
for easy pulled pork sandwiches. They are delicious!!!
Kelli
I have made these several times now and they are amazingly tender and delicious each time. So easy to throw together, too. I’m serving with greens and cornbread tonight!

coke and ribs in crock pot. How much coke do you put in the crock. Half full…..cover the ribs?
Mary Neumann
Hi Chris – the cola does not need to cover the ribs (submerge), you could use 1 cup. Be sure to adjust the cooking time for how fast/slow your cooker cooks. When transferring after slow cooking, if they fall apart – do not worry, Place the meat on the sheet pan, top with bbq sauce and broil (or bake) until the sauce starts to bubble and caramelize.
